didn't Bobby Hamilton drive a vehicle very similar to this one on the 1/4? It seems like it was #57.

The pic of Dewayne Chaffin was taken at Huntsville around 84 or 85. The car was originally built by Gary Binkley to run the then new Late Model division at Nashville in 84, it started out as a white #1 drove by Gary Binkley then was changed to #25 and the paint was changed to what you see on the car with the Big Red cola sponsor. Dewayne drove as well as Gary. I think it ran on the big track for a couple of years then it was changed over to run on the little track. The car was sold to Lester Thurman and Bobby Hamilton Sr. did drive it on the little track, and the number was changed to 57. As far as I know the car is still in Lesters garage. At one time this was one of the winningest cars around.

Would this be the car? If I'm remembering the story right, Bobby Jr. told me the building where this car is stored was damaged by the tornado that hit near Gallatin. Either a part of the building or a tree fell on the car and damaged a quarter panel. Other than that, the car sits just as Bobby raced it last.

Dennis Wiser (#19) leads the field into turn one at the start of a Limited Sportsman feature in 1974. George Bennett (in the #44 Camaro) would go on to win his 6th feature in 7 starts in this rare afternoon race. Behind Bennett on the inside in the red #98 is Jerry Counce and Mike Alexander is in the blue #83 on the outside.

Here's a question for the history buffs. Has any driver past or present ever had a better record than kyle at 15 years old. In a 3200lb or more car. I think of Atwood but don't know how old he was when he started. Kyle's record is. 106 starts 98 top 10's. 78 top 5's two championships one at highland rim on at Nashville. Three time track record holder two at rim one at Nashville. 39 feature Win's. He has won races at three different tracks.

Just for the record James Climer turned the 1/4 at Nash. in the Cadet division 55 Chevy at a 15:45 in 1971. And Mike Alexander in the Limited Sportsman in the car that is pictured 69 Mustang at 15:12 in 1975. These records were when the 1/4mi track was banked, I believe it was 89 or 90 when they changed it to accommodate the pit road layout now.

I don't know how long it's been this way but you do have to be 16 to run on the 5/8. Don't have a clue if there is or has ever been a age limit on the 1/4 mile

Not really sure I think 3200 or 3300, I made a call to verify the actual weight and will post it. And you know when they took the banking away the racing has not been as good as it was back in the day!
