Sorry, but that's not Coo Coo. That photo would be of Red Farmer at Daytona. Click here to see Coo Coo standing beside the car he made his first Nascar Grand National start in. The car Coo Coo drove was owned by Henley Gray from Rome, GA, and as you can see, it also carried the number 97, thus the reason for the confusion, I guess. That race would have been the 1966 Nashville 400, and Coo Coo started 8th and finished 8th, only 25 laps behind winner Richard Petty. Petty won a real nail-biter, beating second place Buck Baker by only 5 laps. While we're at it, here is Coo Coo in the big ole sled of a Chevy Impala (or maybe Bel-Air?) he drove in the 1967 Nashville 400. Coo Coo didn't do quite as well in his second 400 attempt as he only qualified 13th and fell out due to overheating after 120 laps to finish 17th. dredd Do you have any photos of the old street modified division that ran on the small track. Maybe 1992 1993. Or maybe some old fender bender division photos 1990 ,1991. Thanks ET66

That's Mark Parrish on the left and C.Y. Hart of Wynn's Friction Proofing on the right. Mark was one of the original promoters along with Bennie Goodman and Bill Donoho. Mr. Hart was a big supporter of local racing. Among other things, he sponsored the "Most Popular Driver" award. Most likely this photo is from the 1955 presentation of that award and the coveted Wynn's jackets to the winning driver and car owner.
