Both as a celebration of the 50 years and also as a little Christmas present to the board, I thought I'd post one program cover a day from the glorious history of the track. Here's what the first program looked like when weekly racing moved from the Legion Bowl on Cowan Street to the shiny new 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile tracks at the Fairgrounds.

Little did anyone know this would be the end of an era. This is the final program produced under the Donoho regime. Mr. Donoho had been promoting races since 1953. Before the 1979 season started, he would sell the lease to Lanny Hester and Gary Baker. Late Model Sportsman cars would not be the headline division after 1978. Even weekly racing would go away for the 1979 season. Things would never be the same.

Here is my first gap. I don't have a 1980 program. I don't know if one ever existed. If anyone has one, please let me know or better yet, post it! Maybe they didn't do one with no weekly races or champions to salute. I don't remember. Also, since "Vol. 1, Edition 1" is printed on the 1981 cover, it makes me think there wasn't one in '80. So here is the 1981 edition, looking back on the first of Sterling's three championships.

Here's my next gap. I don't have 1985, '86, or '87. Again, I don't know if there were programs those years. Here is the first program from the Boyd Adams / Jimmy Allen era.

You are correct. I have all of the programs from '83 on up. There were no programs for those years.
